HANDBELL MUSICIANS OF CANADA |
FAQHow can I become a member and what is the process?
What are the benefits of membership?
How is HMC governed? It is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of a Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and at least 2 Directors-at-Large to a maximum total of 12 Board members (including Past-Chair, Chair-Elect, Membership Secretary). When is the Annual General Meeting? The Annual General Meetings will occur in the fall (within 6 months of the end-of-year.) All members will be notified at least 30 days prior to the meeting, as specified in the HMC Bylaws. When are the Board of Directors elections held? The last Board of Directors election was October 2023. There will be an election held in the fall of 2025. If you are interested in volunteering on the Board, contact Chair@handbellmusiciansofcanada.ca for more information about the nomination procedures. When (and where) will the next Ringing Link be?Historically Handbell Guilds of Canada held Ringing Link every three years. The last one was held in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 2014. As HGC was preparing to host the International Handbell Symposium in 2016, Ringing Link was postponed.
Post-Covid, there is much work to do to build HMC membership and to start planning for future National events, both on-line and in-person. The current planning committee welcomes all ideas and welcomes volunteers from across the country to share ideas about how to best serve our members. It is hoped that an in-person National event will be possible in our near future. How can I volunteer?
