How to Arrange a Composition with Jim Winslett: (9 am PT/ 10 am MT/ 11 am CT/ 12 pm ET/ 1 pm AT) In this 1-hour workshop, you’ll learn the tips and tricks of arranging music for handbells. This is not a music theory lesson, but rather what you need to know specifically to write or arrange music for handbells. Topics covered will be notation, techniques, soundscapes, pitfalls, and notation software, and publishing. A link will be emailed the day before each event.

Clinician Bio: Jim Winslett has been writing and arranging music for more than 40 years. While he has composed a few original pieces, his first love is arranging, bringing existing melodies into new realms, forcing the listener to ‘hear it again for the first time.'

He arranges music for brass, vocal (primarily a cappella), and a bit of percussion, but his primary focus is handbells.

Jim is an active member on the HMC Board, the Membership Secretary for ALGEHR, on the Board of the Bow River Handbell Musicians Society, and on the organizing committee of the up-coming Classic Bronze Calgary event in August. When not writing music, Jim can be seen traveling the world in search of roller coasters (He’s ridden more than 900 of them) or sorting/counting Lego bricks for his online shop.
